The Parthenon Sculptures

How did the Parthenon look like during the classical period? What were the sculptures that decorated the temple? How were they constructed? What colors did they have? The students walk around the Parthenon Gallery and learn about the Parthenon Sculptures with the help of special designed educational material, games and other activities.

The Acropolis Monuments

In this program, students meet the four most important monuments of the Acropolis (the Propylaia, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion). With the help of three-dimensional models and other visual materials, they reconstruct the Sanctuary of the classical period. At the same time, through observation of the exhibits (architectural members and sculptures), they learn about the function of each building, its architectural order, decoration and its special characteristics.

Olympian Riddles: Searching for the Ancient Gods in the Acropolis Museum

Having the goddess Iris, the messenger of the gods as their guide, students can explore various depictions of the twelve Olympian gods in the Museum’s exhibits. With the help of visual material, they are able to recognize each god through their symbols and learn about each ones favourite plants and animals. The adventure is completed in the Parthenon Gallery, where the children “meet” the gods that appear on the frieze, and watch the culminating event of the Panathenaic festival, – the handing over of the peplos to the goddess Athena.

6 short stories of separation

The students walk around the Parthenon Gallery on the Museum’s third floor, where they will discover the, perhaps most famous, sculptures worldwide! But not all of them … A part of these is located elsewhere … The details behind where, when, how and why they went missing will be discovered through the adventures of six famous sculptures.
