On Friday, November 22, 2024, the photographic exhibition \u201cChisel and Memory: The contribution of marble craftsmanship to the restoration of monuments<\/em>\u201d was inaugurated at the Center of Hellenic Studies of Harvard University, in Washington. The exhibition was transferred at the initiative of the Center of Hellenic Studies, is under the auspices of the Embassy of Greece in the United States of America\u00a0 and will remain open to the public until June 2025. Other events will be planned in connection to the exhibition, to be announced later.<\/p>\n

Dr. Aigli Zafirakou, Strategic Advisor for the Development of Education at the World Bank and the Bill Gates Foundation, and Dr. Ismini Lamb, Professor at Georgetown University, made a significant contribution to the exhibition, while the overall coordination was carried out at the highest standard by the Executive Director of the Center, Dr. Zoe Lafis.<\/p>\n

The official opening of the exhibition was attended by the Director of the YSMA, Vasiliki Eleftheriou, who gave a lecture on \u201cRestoring the Acropolis Monuments. Visible and invisible work\u201d<\/em>. The event was opened by the Director of the Center for Hellenic Studies, Professor Mr. Mark Schiefsky. Ms. Eleftheriou presented to the audience the principles governing the Acropolis works, the materials and methods of intervention, as well as views of the works that have been completed in the Parthenon, the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike.<\/p>\n

The opening was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Greece, Universities, Museums and members of the Greek community.<\/p>\n
