As part of the 2025 celebration of International Museum Day, under the theme \u201cThe Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities\u201d the Department of Information and Education of the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA) organized a training seminar for primary and secondary school teachers at the Acropolis Museum, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00.<\/p>\n

The two key pillars of this year\u2019s celebration were the power of youth as citizens of tomorrow and the use of technology to enhance public engagement with cultural content. In this context, the seminar titled \u201cThe Parthenon Frieze in the Museum and Online\u201d was perfectly aligned with ICOM\u2019s call for new approaches to exploring our cultural identity.<\/p>\n

The seminar was inspired by the online application<\/a> dedicated to the Parthenon Frieze, which was recently enriched by the Department of Information and Education with new digital educational games and suggested activities for the home, the classroom, or the museum. Teachers had the opportunity to explore this unique sculptural ensemble and to appreciate its vast educational potential and value. Following the presentation of the specially designed educational material and its suggested uses in teaching practice, participants were given a guided tour of the Parthenon Gallery at the Acropolis Museum, where they engaged with the Frieze through hands-on, experiential activities.<\/p>\n

The teachers\u2019 enthusiasm and the fruitful, engaging discussion that unfolded during the seminar served as strong motivation for the organization of similar events in the upcoming school year \u2014 a shared request expressed by all participants.<\/p>\n
