The book describes the ancient temples, their use and function, their typology, their form, their sculptural and painted decoration, their construction and the materials used, the transportation of the stones from quarry to work-site, the ancient tools and the methods used for hoisting, setting and joining architectural members. The book is accompanied by 16 cards with photographs of the best known temples preserved in good condition throughout Greece.
