The Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis Conservation Committee (ESMA), the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA) and the Acropolis Friends (EFA) organize an event titled “Charalambos Bouras and the Acropolis”. The event is dedicated to the memory of the academic teacher who, as a founding member of the Acropolis Conservation Committee, has linked his name to the restoration of the monuments of the Acropolis.
Charalambos Bouras “served” the restoration of the Acropolis monuments for more than 40 years, initially as a founding member and, since 1985, as a chairman of ESMA. During this period, he worked tirelessly and methodically for the preservation and protection of the monuments of the Acropolis, the implementation of international restoration guidelines, the promotion of scientific research and the creation of a restoration’s archive. Today, two years later, the purity of his thought and the fullness of his word remain timeless.
For the contribution of Charalambos Boura to the restoration of the monuments of the Acropolis they will speak:
The Chairman of the Board of the Acropolis Museum, Professor mr D. Pantermalis
The President of ESMA, Professor mr M. Korres
The Deputy President of ESMA, Professor mrs F. Mallouchou-Tufano
The Director of YSMA, mrs V. Eleftheriou and
The General Secretary of EFA, mrs A. Malikourti
During the event will be shown excerpts from the film “Charalambos Bouras: The man, the scientist, the teacher” of B. Tsoka, production of the DIAZOMA.
Also, the recent publications of YSMA “Specialised research and implementation issues in the Acropolis restoration works carried out during the period of 2010-2015” and “Charalambos Bouras and the restoration of the monuments of the Acropolis”, will be presented, dedicated to Memory.
