The collaboration between the Department of Information and Education of YSMA and the Plato Academy in Tarpon Springs, United States, was successfully concluded. Plato Academy utilized our Service’s educational museum kits ‘Let’s Go to the Acropolis’, ‘An Ancient Temple’, ‘The Parthenon Frieze’, ‘Acropolis and Restoration’, and ‘The Olympian Gods’ during the schoolyear 2023-2024. Under the guidance of their teachers, students engaged in various activities inspired by the content of the museum kits, fostering an environment of significant joy and creativity.
These activities were directed at students across all educational levels (grades 1st -8th). Noteworthy examples developed in the context of the celebration of the national anniversary of March 25th, 1821, include the creation of ancient Greek costumes, the composition of short stories about the 12 Olympian Gods followed by their dramatization through podcasts, the design and execution of an exhibition showcasing students’ works, and the production of small theatrical performances emphasizing the repatriation of sculptures located in museums outside Greece, among other initiatives.
As the promotion and enhancement of Greek culture is one of the primary objectives of the Information and Education Department, we consider this collaboration to have been highly successful. The students and teachers expressed exceptional enthusiasm and have indicated a strong desire for the renewal of this partnership in the future.
