On Wednesday, November 4, 2015, Mr Pierre Moskovisi, the Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs of the EU, visited the Acropolis of Athens in the company of Mr George Stathakis, Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, and Mr Aristides Baltas, Minister of Culture and Sport and Mr Panos Karvounis, Head of the European Commission representation in Greece. The Commissioner was informed of the progress of the restoration and conservation projects, which are carried out on the monuments of the Acropolis with funding from the Greek State and the European Union. The current restoration program of the Acropolis monuments will be completed as scheduled by the end of this year.
The briefing was given by Ms Vassiliki Eleftheriou, the Director of the Acropolis Restoration Service, Mr Charalambos Bouras, Professor Emeritus of the National Technical University of Athens and President of the Committee for the Conservation of the Acropolis monuments, Mr M. Korres, Professor Emeritus of the National Technical University of Athens, and Mrs Eleni Βanou, Head of the Archaeological Ephorate of Athens. During the visit they attended the repositioning of a drum in the western colonnade of the Propylaea and of an orthostate block of the north wall of the Parthenon.
