This application presents the Parthenon frieze, the continuous relief band running along the top part of the main temple. Τhe subject of the frieze was the Panathenaic procession in honour of the goddess Athena.
The application is addressed to scholars as well as the general public. This application is an upgrated version of a previous one under the same title. The new application adheres to best practices and guidelines in web design and UI/UX (user interaction/user experience). Moreover, new functionalities are integrated making the application accessible and functional to all modern media and platforms, ie mobile phones and tablets in different operating environments and different browsers.
The utilization of new technologies for the presentation of the frieze, this unique sculptural work of art, contributes to the achievement of one of the main goals of our Service, which is the diffusion of knowledge and the “Open Access” to the extensive scientific, research and cultural content deriving from the major technical project of the restoration of the Acropolis monuments.
The application was developed through the collaboration of the the Acropolis Restoration Service, the Acropolis Museum and the National Center for Documentation & Electronic Content.
